District double for RE golf

RE's boys' and girls' golf teams each won a second straight district title with dominant victories at Crandon Park on Key Biscayne on Oct. 16. Led by Jake Beber-Frankel '20, who finished second individually, the boys posted a score of 309, the lowest 18-hole team score on record at Crandon Park. Phoebe Beber-Frankel '20 won the individual district title and led the girls, who won by 46 strokes with a team total of 319.
The boys' victory in the District 24-1A Golf Tournament Championship represented their third district title in six years. Beber-Frankel shot a 1-over par 73. Anderson Murphy '19 shot a 78, tying for seventh overall. Marc Chaneles '20 and Eldon Spencer '19 tied for 10th overall and scored 79s.The boys topped Palmer Trinity (322), Gulliver Prep (328), Westminster Christian (342), Mast Academy (393), Florida Christian (395), Riviera Prep (398) and LaSalle (412).

The girls defeated Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart (365), Palmer Trinity (373) and Gulliver Prep (376). Phoebe Beber-Frankel '20 (73), Rachel DeAngulo '20 (82) and Aliyah Cohen '22 (82) led the team's advance. DeAngulo and Cohen finished tied for third place in the individual event.  Both teams also advanced in the Florida High School Athletic Association Region 8 Tournament on Oct. 22 at Crandon Park, earning berths in the state championship that takes place Oct. 30-31.
