Libraries and Archives

Tomes and treasure

Libraries on both campuses and an archives room at the upper school are vibrant spaces that provide opportunities for reflection, study and learning. The Braman Family Media Center at the middle school and the Dan Leslie Bowden Library at the upper school offer a joint collection of 35,000 print books, nearly 100 periodicals, and a wide variety of films, audiobooks and subscription databases with access to thousands of scholarly journals. Librarians on both campuses help students access information and materials while deepening their understanding of concepts and new ideas. Information literacy, proper citation and research skills are taught beginning in the sixth grade.

The archives room on the second floor of the Visual Arts Building is home to artifacts that document the school’s history dating back to the late 19th century. The extensive collection includes papers, photographs, books, media and other items that occupy approximately 500 linear feet of space, with materials arranged into record groups. The archives are managed by Director of Libraries and Archivist Katrina Patchett.
