RE speech and debate scores locally, regionally and nationally

Ransom Everglades Speech and Debate concluded its fall competitive season with high-level performances across five tournaments since mid-October, winning eight event championships while scoring 18 top-three placements at local, regional and national events. 

A few highlights: Lucas Sanchez ’27 earned fourth place in Dramatic Interpretation at a national event in Chicago; Ella Griffin '29 earned three first-place finishes across two events; and Reed Gershman ’26 won one event while scoring three top-three finishes. The team of Tyler Marcus ’26 and Eduardo de Sabrit ’26 claimed a first-place finish at a major regional tournament.
Under coaches Kate Hamm and Justinmar Perez, the team is ranked second in Florida and No. 28 in the nation in 2025. Over the past three months, RE speech and debate team has competed in Illinois, Virgiina, Weston, Palm Beach and Miami.
  • The Tradition @ Cypress Bay High School (regional, Dec. 13-14): Three students reached the final rounds as Griffin won first place in Extemporaneous Debate.
  • Glenbrooks Speech and Debate Tournament (national, Nov. 22-25): Sanchez's fourth followed his third place at a national tournament at Yale in September.
  • Revolutionary Rhetoric at William & Mary (regional, Nov. 7-9): Raiders won three titles at this regional event. Griffin won in both Extemporaneous Speaking and Impromptu Speaking, and partners Marcus and de Sabrit finished first in Varsity Public Forum Debate. Gershman added a second place in Extemporaneous Speaking.
  • Palm Beach Catholic Forensic League (local, Nov. 15): Mateo Delgado ’27 won first place in Varsity Extemporaneous Speaking, and Noa Cramer ’29 and Rayna Udell ’29 scored the title in Novice Public Forum Debate.
  • Western Cat Claw Classic (local, Oct. 25): Paola Maynulet '26 won top honors in Original Oratory, Stefano Kruger '28, in Program Oral Interpretation, and the World Schools Debate team of Nick Torres '27, Chloe Zaldivar '26, Owen Brue '27 and Eli Simkins '27 achieved the top honor. Gershman also earned the championship in Impromptu Speaking and second place in Extemporaneous Speaking at this event.
