Ransom Everglades’ academic teams on both campuses achieved incredible results at events on back-to-back weekends, winning 10 gold medals and sweeping top honors at both the South Florida Winter History Bee and Bowl in Delray Beach on February 21 and the South Florida Regional History Bee and Bowl at the upper school on February 28. Among the most notable results: RE won consecutive gold medals in the varsity bowl division and saw a historic outing by the middle school teams at RE with a medals sweep in the seventh-/eighth-grade bee and the sixth-grade bee.
The recent middle school tournament included teams from Archimedean, Doral Academy and Cushman. Individual bee results:
6th-grade bee:Gabe Hoare ’32 (gold), Isidro Ferrer ’32 (silver), and Daniel Sigelman ’32 and Leon Frankel ’32 (shared the bronze).
In the middle school bowl (team) competition, the eighth-grade squad (Gonzalez, Ryder Dalal ’30, Izzy Greengrass ’30 and Cam Fisser ’30) secured second place, while the seventh-grade team (Ethan van der Ven ’31, Niko Diego ’31, Goldbergand Alex McCarthy ’31) finished third. Faculty member Joe Mauro coaches the middle school teams.
At the upper school event, RE continued the winning streak with the team of Parker Jelke '27, Jaz Puri '28,Zach Corbin-Cheah '27, Gabrielle Tchira '27 and Adi Arul '26 placing first in the varsity bowl; Jack González '28, Harlan Hoenig '28,Julian Jelke '29 and Noah Veras '29 placing first in the JV bowl; and Hank Derick '28, Daniel Coscarelli '29, Evan Powe '29 and Sophia Sacher '29 placing second in the JV bowl. The event featured a 19-team field that included Belen Jesuit, Coral Gables, Pine Crest, Archimedean Conservatory, American Heritage, Doral Academy and Cushman.

That competition followed the stellar weekend at American Heritage School in Delray Beach, which drew top-tier programs including Belen Jesuit, Pine Crest, and Coral Gables. Parker Jelke, Tchira, Iker Fierro ’28 and Lucas Praca ’27 led a varsity sweep to take gold. The JV team ofPuri, Jack González, Veras and Julian Jelke also brought home gold.
