Middle school students dominate history and geography bee regional event

Ransom Everglades students delivered a dominant performance at the Middle School South Florida Winter Regionals in the History and Geography Bees on March 7, capturing 16 of the 18 total medals awarded across all events in the sixth, seventh and eighth-grade divisions. Noah Mitchell '31 led the effort with two gold medals, and Cam Fisser '30, Daniel Sigelman '32, Rohan Harihara '30 and Isidro Ferrer ’32 each earned one gold as RE's entire team competed with Honor & Excellence.
In the history bee, RE students swept the podium in both the eighth- and sixth-grade categories. Fisser earned first place in the eighth-grade division, followed by Maya Sigelman ’30 in second and Keane Mason ’30 in third. In the sixth-grade division, Sigelman took gold, Gabe Hoare ’32 claimed silver and Leon Frankel ’32 scored the bronze. In the seventh-grade category, Mitchell placed first and Oli Tache ’31 secured third.

In the geography bee, Harihara led an eighth-grade sweep, with Izzy Greengrass ’30 and Zarah Broome-Webster ’30 finishing second and third, respectively. In the sixth-grade division, Ferrer took first place, followed by Hoare in second and Daniel Sigelman in third. Mitchell added to his tally with a first-place finish in the seventh-grade division, while Brady Goldberg ’31 earned the bronze medal.

The students trained and competed under faculty member Joe Mauro. Next up for the team: the national championships in Orlando over Memorial Day weekend.
