Students shine at successful South Florida Economic Ransom Everglades conference

The student-led South Florida Economic Ransom Everglades (SFERE) conference on March 13 brought together aspiring entrepreneurs and respected industry titans to consider the evolving global economy under the theme "Innovation: Breaking Industry Barriers." The event in the Fernandez STEM Center and Posner Lecture Hall was highlighted by a concluding panel of influential figures in business and media: Marcelo Claure, Michael Grunwald, Eddie Lampert and Stephen Robert.
The conference served as a platform for students to present original research, entrepreneurial ventures and business initiatives aimed at addressing modern economic challenges and disruptive technologies. It also offered them the opportunity to hear directly from experts who have navigated major industry shifts; the panelists answered questions on a variety of economic and business topics from Eduardo de Sabrit '26.

The conference was organized by members of the Miami Venturing Entrepreneurs of Ransom Everglades. Student leaders de Sabrit, Christopher Tsialas ’26, Isabella de Sabrit ’28, Pierce Harris ’26, Mateo Delgado ’27, Olivia Michelsen ’26, and Armando Barlick ’26 worked under the guidance of faculty advisors Maggie Berry and Brandon King.
