Ransom Everglades bestowed awards on more than 60 students from grades 9-11 during the Upper School Awards Ceremony on May 19, recognizing them for excellence in academics, arts, service and character. The event celebrated students' successes along with their determination, compassion, kindness and support for one another. Head of School Rachel Rodriguez opened the event at the Lewis Family Auditorium welcoming students in each grade and lauding all for their personal contributions to the RE community.
"This room is made up of individuals who each have stories, stories of perseverance and resilience and intelligence," she said. "Today is about honor and achieving excellence, but even more, it's about celebrating the values that make our school feel like home: Support & Community Joy & Wellbeing, Honor & Excellence, Service & Outreach, Diversity & Inclusion. Each one of you has played a part in making this year better. So, whether you're receiving an award today, you're cheering from the audience, you're sitting behind the scenes, ... you are part of what makes this community strong."
Department heads presented awards in their areas, and Head of the Upper School Donald Cramp opened the event. The ceremony concluded with the presentation of the Antonio Tsialas '19 Leadership Award by Flavia Tomasello and John Tsialas, Antonio's parents, to
Ellie Feldman '27. Just before,
Ava Crowley '27 received the Princeton Service Award, and
Shai Waizbrot '27 received the College of William and Mary Leadership Award.
