Ninth-grade history competition explores topics from WWII
A panel of student judges selected "The Siege of Leningrad" by Misha Gowda '28 as the top presentation on a World War II topic among entries from RE's ninth grade, concluding an engaging learning exploration involving the entire class. The judges viewed Gowda's presentation during a finalist round on April 24 that also included projects by Paulina Duenas '28, Amalia Ulloa '28, Cece Moyle '28, Aleko Katsoufis '28, Jordan Posner '28 and Andrea Medina '28.
Under the direction of history and social science teacher Ben Yeo, the finalists shared their presentations of 10 slides each, timed at 20 seconds per slide, on World War II topics of their choosing. One student in each ninth-grade history and social sciences class advanced to the semifinals, and seven moved to the finalist round. Previous students finalists – Jack Merrick '26, Lucas Sanchez '27, Dominique Cederberg '26 and Sophia Thompson '27 – judged the event.
