Upper school math team concludes season with success at states

Ransom Everglades' upper school math team finished its competitive season with top results in two state-level events. Team members earned a host of top-10 finishes at the Florida Association of Mu Alpha Theta (FAMAT) State Convention 2026 and finished in second place in the Purple Comet! Math Meet.
At the FAMAT state meet in Orlando April 17-18:

  • Alex Tevelow '28, Daniel Li '28, Juju Hommen ’27 and Max Grunwald ’26 tied for seventh place out of 68 teams in the calculus competition
  • Ransom Everglades finished fifth in the Interschool event
  • Tevelow finished seventh out of 84 students on the Calculus Applications Test
  • Raju earned seventh place out of 100 students on the Open Probability Test
  • Grunwald scored an eighth-place finish out of 68 students on the Calculus Sequences and Series Test
  • Li finished 11th out of 30 students on the Open Gemini Test and eighth on the Speed Math Test
  • Clayton Serflek ’29 finished 18th out of 73 students on the Alpha Applications Test in his first state meet
At the Purple Comet! Math Meet in the Small High School Category for Florida, Alex Tevelow ’28, Daniel Li ’28, Joshie Khohayting ’28, Carolina Cavalcanti ’28, Girish Raju ’27 and Inti Yankelevich '28 finished second overall.

"Incredible work by all of our students," said coach and RE faculty member Sebastian Revollo. "We couldn’t be more proud of them for their drive and dedication."

RE faculty members Thor Andreassen and Ashley Ernst also assisted the team.
