Tenth class of Dan Leslie Bowden Fellows in the Humanities announced
Ransom Everglades announced the 10th class of Dan Leslie Bowden Fellows in the Humanities, awarding eight members of the Class of 2027 funding and support to conduct independent research projects this summer. The newly named fellows – Matilda Barrack '27, Ava Crowley '27, Isla Dua '27, Gabrielle Heckler '27, Valentina Pombo '27, Chloe Steinberg '27, Reisha Yavagal '27 and Myla Zuckerman '27 – will work under the mentorship of RE’s Chief of Innovation & Strategic Programming John A. King Jr. and various humanities faculty members.
This year's cohort will explore a range of topics from the healing power of literature in pediatric wards to the ethical scars of Australia's "Stolen Generation," spending their summer months conducting field research, interviews and archival analysis. The program culminates with a Bowden Fellows Gallery Night in the winter, when the students will present their research findings to the Ransom Everglades community.

The fellowship program was established in June 2016 through a gift from Jeffrey Miller '79 to honor the legacy of long-time faculty member Dan Leslie Bowden. Mr. Bowden served the school for 63 years as an English teacher and administrator until his passing in 2018.
