Spring athletes score all-county honors

Ransom Everglades' Jack Merrick '26 and head coach Eric Lefebvre earned top honors as the Miami Herald began announcing its all-county selections for the spring sports season. Merrick was named the Boys' Water Polo Athlete of the Year and Lefebvre was selected as the Water Polo Coach of the Year.

The pair helped the Raiders to a runner-up finish in the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) State Championship; Merrick led the Raiders with 113 goals, 14 assists and 45 steals during a dominant season.

The individual accolades headlined a huge showing for Ransom Everglades, which saw 12 student-athletes secure first-team all-Dade honors. To date, four dozen Ransom Everglades athletes have received all-county recognition: RE's list will be updated once baseball and softball results are announced by the Herald.

RE's water polo program captured the top individual awards as the lacrosse program drew the highest total number of individual player recognitions. Boys' and girls' lacrosse claimed 19 all-county selections, followed by water polo with 17. Track and field accounted for seven honorees, and flag football added two.

In separate news, the FHSAA named Ransom Everglades the 2026 Academic Team Champion for Class 3A. The honor is awarded based on the cumulative grade point averages of the varsity team's athletes.
