Coed Varsity Sailing Wins College of Charleston Invitational Regatta

This past weekend the Coed Varsity Sailing Team traveled to the College of Charleston Invitational Regatta held in the shadow of the USS Yorktown in Charleston, SC. The team was matched up against 17 other teams from as far north as Chicago to as far south as the US Virgin Islands . The two days of racing were accompanied by light to medium winds and an ebbing tide that reached 2 knots at times. The competition was incredibly close and at the end of the first day the Raiders were 3 points out of 1st place and one point ahead of the 3rd place team. The second day started with the team's closest rivals scoring a first place finish. As the conditions improved, the team was able to gain a small lead going into the last flight. Both division A and B  teams were able to finish in 1st place. By this time the wind shut down and the race committee called the regatta. The team earned a well deserved 1st place finish. It was a total team effort from all the participants.
