Programming Team

New programming team wins 'Hackathon'

The newly created RE Programming Team won its first-ever competition – The Miami Country Day Hackathon and Design Challenge. Zeke Andreassen '18, Anna Mistele '19 and Valeria Vela '19 claimed first place by using the programming language Swift to design an iPhone app called “Zzzoo," which incentivizes healthy sleep habits. Jared Gardner '21 and Eric Plass '18 created a tank fighting game called “Tank Titans” on the coding platform Scratch to contribute to RE's successful debut.
Each of the 14 teams across three divisions had four hours to create an original app. RE's victory in the senior division of the December event earned the team a 3D-printed trophy and a programmable drone. The RE Programming Team, which signed up more than 80 students at the fall club fair this year, hopes to extend its success into future competitions. Students interested in learning more should contact team sponsors and faculty members Eric Lefebvre and Alex Kutsenok, or student president Anna Mistele.
