Academic teams claim titles at RE

Ransom Everglades academic teams swept the South Florida Winter History Bee and Bowl team titles on Jan. 25, with Victoria Davis '21, Howard Scharlin '20, Jake Quanstrom '20, Lucas Miner '20 and Tim Sucher '20 claiming the varsity title and Javi Kumar '22, Leo Fein '23, Gabe Mora '22 and Nico Civantos '22 earning the JV title – by defeating an overachieving team of RE middle schoolers.
The team of Daniel Figueroa '24, Liam Forand '24, Lucas Blanco '24, Chase Dubovy '25 and Tyler Marcus '26 went undefeated before facing RE’s JV in the final.
 
The event served as the South Florida regional qualifier for the National History Bee and Bowl. The varsity team is coached by faculty members Branly Fontaine and Abby Berler and the middle school team is coached by faculty member Joe Mauro.
