Academic Teams

Another success for academic teams

In a replay of their success at a competition at Ransom Everglades in January, RE's varsity and JV academic teams each won first place in the 2020 South Florida History Bee and Bowl Championships at Belen Jesuit February 15, with a team of RE middle schoolers finishing second in the JV division – losing only to the eventual JV champion.
Diego Duckenfield '20, Lucas Miner '20 and Tim Sucher '20 claimed the varsity bowl title. Javi Kumar '22, Leo Fein '23, Liv Steinhardt '23 and Lucia Dahn '23 led RE's JV team and Daniel Figueroa '24, Chase Dubovy '25, Liam Forand '24 and Lucas Blanco '24 represented the middle school. Both competed in the JV division and went 7-0 before meeting in the championship round, with the JV team winning. This was an exact replica of the results at the January tournament held at Ransom Everglades.

In the Bee, it was also a clean sweep for the Raiders as Kumar, Figueroa and Fein were the top three students.

The middle school team is coached by faculty member Joe Mauro, and the upper school teams by Branly Fontaine and Abby Berler.
