Robotics team advances to 2020 worlds

A robotics team from Ransom Everglades advanced to the 2020 VEX Robotics World Championship by winning a top award – the Think Award – at the South Florida regional championship at Florida International University on Feb. 29. The "Dark Matter" squad of Alex Van Lidth '22, Andre Joseph '22, Max Vallone '22, Dashielle DeStefano '22, Jonah Bennett '21 and Felipe Clavijo '21 finished fourth overall among 57 teams.
Dark matter also finished sixth in the skills competition, leading the four Ransom Everglades teams that qualified for the regional meet under robotics coach Bob DuBard. RE's Dark Matter has been one of the most successful upper school robotics teams in recent memory.

Dark Matter has claimed 10 awards so far this season, winning more than any other team in South Florida. It is the first RE upper school team in six years to quality for the world championship, which this year takes place April 22-25 in Louisville, Ky.
