Raiders impress at singlehanded championship regatta

Five raider sailors participated in the High School Southeast District Singlehanded Championship Sailing Regatta in Jacksonville, FL over the weekend. In total, fifteen races were planned for the weekend but only three were completed due to relentless rain, and little wind that plagued the two day regatta.   Junior Stephan Baker '22 beat 36 sailors with a strong performance to win the annual championship in only his second regatta in this singlehanded class of boat. Sophomore Jackson McAliley '23 also had an impressive competition as he finished sixth. Senior Javi Garcon '21 sailed well finishing 1st, and 2nd in two races but a premature start that he was unaware of added points to place him in ninth. Freshman Emery Diemar '24 and Junior Boris Bialer '22 raced this event for the first time finishing a respectful 27th and 32nd. Congratulations to all our competitors on a tremendous event.
