Raiders win on last second penalty kick

Despite a dominant first half the Raiders wasted multiple scoring opportunities to keep Saint Andrews in the game. Just before half, a penalty called against RE opened the door for a scoring chance that Saint Andrews would take advantage of to take a 1-0 lead. The second half started in similar fashion with the Raiders controlling the game, but unable to convert scoring chances. Finally with just under eight minutes remaining junior Nicholas Sosa '23 side stepped multiple defenders before finding the back of the net on a terrific shot just outside the 18 yard box to tie the game. With under a minute remaining in the game a free kick opportunity led to a handball on a Saint Andrews defender opening the door for a last second penalty kick to win. Senior Rylan Sadler '22 took full advantage of the opportunity as he confidently converted to lead the Raiders to fantastic come from behind victory. The Raiders will now take their 4-1-2 record on the road in a key matchup with Westminster Christian this afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
