We aRE all Raiders: Ransom Everglades unveils a new Raider logo

Ransom Everglades students and alumni voted for a new Raider logo last spring, with both groups choosing by a significant margin a Raider featuring a dynamic color scheme and silhouetted features. More than 61 percent of the 1,365 students and alumni who cast votes in April preferred the sleek new Raider, a logo designed to show that anyone and everyone can be a Ransom Everglades Raider.
Students James Brown-Urmeneta ’24, Alexandra Leiser ’25, Varun Raju ’24, Kiera Rampersad ’25, Santiago Sauceda ’24 and Adaya Yang ’25 participated in a fun unveiling of the new Raider in a short video released in May.

“We are pleased (and also a bit relieved) that students and alumni both preferred – by a significant margin – the same Raider,” COO and Interim Head of the Upper School David Clark ’86 wrote in an email to alumni and students.

By the end of the summer, the new logo was emblazoned on both sides of the Anderson gymnasium and the east end of Walker Field. The new Raider also appeared in the center of a new outdoor basketball court at the site of the former tennis courts that is adjacent to a new turf field.

Raider fans can find new Raider gear in the RE Stores on both campuses and via a new online Raider fan site.

Students voted anonymously during the lead-up to the 2023 Alumni Weekend; 65.1 percent preferred the silhouetted Raider. Alumni voted during alumni weekend and after; 56.6 percent preferred the selected Raider.

RE’s leadership and offices of athletics and communications began the quest for a new Raider in the winter of 2022-23. The school’s previous Raider mascot had been largely retired, and students, alumni and faculty wanted a new Raider to enhance school spirit.

Clark, Head of School Rachel Rodriguez, athletic directors Scott Berman (upper school) and Deb Savino (middle school), Director of Communications Amy Shipley and Communications Associate Suzanne Kores served on the new Raider committee, working closely with Miami agency DAISHO Creative Strategies to create five options for the Raider.

Twenty students and alumni then narrowed the list to two finalists, and all alumni and students were invited to make the final selection.
