What drives your passion for giving back to the RE community?
As parents and for me, as an alum, our passion to give back to the RE community comes from deep gratitude and connection. This school shaped my own life in profound and lasting ways. It gave me a foundation that shaped who I am today, not only academically, but also in character, values and life-long friendships. Now watching my children walk the same halls and benefit from the same spirit of curiosity, service and community fills me with pride. Volunteering for The Fund for RE is my way of honoring that legacy, helping to strengthen the school we love and ensuring that future generations of students experience the same growth, opportunities and sense of belonging. This community is a community for life, and we feel so incredibly grateful to be part of it.
What developments or initiatives at RE are you most excited about right now?
While there’s so much to be excited about at RE right now, what truly inspires us is the opportunity to support our extraordinary faculty. We deeply value the talent, dedication and passion our educators bring to the classroom every day. Their commitment to nurturing young minds and fostering a love of learning is the heart of our community. We believe that investing in continued professional development and providing meaningful resources is essential — not only to empower our teachers but also to create an environment where they feel supported, valued and celebrated.
In addition to contributing to The Fund for RE, we’re also proud to support the McMahon Faculty Endowment, which provides a cost-of-living allowance for our teachers. This endowment is a powerful way to directly impact the lives of our educators and ensure they can thrive both personally and professionally. It’s a privilege to champion the people who make RE such a transformative place for our children.
As Parent Chairs for the Fund for RE, what are your goals and hopes for the coming year?
As Parent Chairs for The Fund for RE, our goal is to help support and strengthen the culture of giving at our school. Our hope is that every family will feel inspired to participate at a level that feels meaningful to them. We believe that it is our collective generosity that sustains and enriches the opportunities and experiences that our children enjoy each and every day, as well as ensuring that RE continues its tradition of excellence for generations to come.
In order to reach this goal, we have four main objectives. First, we want to build awareness of how The Fund directly supports academics, arts, athletics, faculty and the many opportunities that make our school unique and exceptional. Second, we want to encourage broad participation, with every family joining in, since participation is just as important as dollars raised. Third, we believe it is important to continue to foster community spirit by reminding parents that our contributions are an expression of gratitude and investment in the future of our children and our school. And lastly, we aim to inspire giving early and joyfully, so we can reach our goals efficiently and with great excitement.
Our greatest hope is that families will feel proud to take part, knowing that together we are making a lasting difference.
What are some meaningful ways that parents can get involved in the life of RE?
One of the greatest strengths of our school is the energy and generosity of our families. Parents play an essential role in enriching student life and strengthening the bonds that make our school so special. There are many ways to get involved, whether you have an hour to give or can commit to more time throughout the year. For instance, there are opportunities to volunteer as a Class Parent, lend a hand at arts and athletic events, volunteer for cultural events or faculty appreciation efforts, volunteer for The Fund for RE or mentor a student exploring college paths. Every act of involvement, big or small, deepens our sense of community and reminds our children that they are surrounded by caring adults who believe in them.
My advice to new parents is to get involved in something going on in our school that is meaningful to you. This is a great way to get to know other parents and to feel a part of this amazing RE community.
