RE crew team earns national championship

Andres Segrera '19 and Will Mathes '19 won a thrilling national title for RE crew, finishing first in the boys junior double at the Scholastic Rowing Association of America National Championships Regatta on May 26 in Pennsauken, N.J. The boys, who previously captured Florida state titles in sweep and sculling, defeated the second-place team by five seconds in the 1,500-meter race.
The victory was the first for Ransom Everglades at the scholastic national championships. The Raiders prevailed in the final over a highly regarded pair from St. Joseph High School (Metuchen, N.J. ), which had defeated 28 other schools to win the prestigious Stotesbury Cup the week before.

The national championships drew 548 entries from 183 clubs across the United States. The boys were led by RE Crew Head Coach Tim McAllister.
