Raiders Win Their Third Game

Last Wednesday, the team defeated the Palmer Trinity Falcons 6-0.  The girls worked their way into the game more slowly due to a short  warm-up and the coldest temperatures of the season so far. Once again the midfield was able to get the ball into space behind the opponent’s back line allowing the forwards and outside midfielders to carry the ball on goal.  A half dozen chances were created this way and the team converted 3 with goals from Ellie Dyke (1) and Madison Munroe (2) off assists from Bri Suarez and Bianca Perez. The girls were feeling confident at halftime with a 3-0 lead.

Warmed up and ready to go, the team started the second half quickly with a goal by Grace Arriola after she won a ball at the top of their penalty area, dribbled in on goal and scored along the ground.  Our next two goals came from winning free kicks and dribbling in on their goalkeeper. Lily Kaplan scored on a first time shot off a Dani Pineros cross along the ground. Next Bri Suarez collected the ball from a goal kick, dribbled past a defender and shot.  The rebound went to Lilly Kaplan who played it back to Suarez, and she shot the ball high into the net from close range.

Lily Kaplan, Madison Munroe and Bri Suarez notched 2 point games.  Grace Arriola and Julia Paula were named co-MVPs. Our next game is Wednesday, December 5, 4pm at home against Carrollton.  We look forward to playing well against a strong opponent.
