The robotics team of Mateo Heitner '25, Ivan Rosenfeld '25, Victoria Paraoulaki de Miranda '24, Erick Gross '24 and Gabriel Karsenti '26 put forth one of the most successful performances in RE robotics history at the South Florida Regional VEX Robotics Championship in Miami Springs on March 2. The Raiders won The Excellence Award, the Robot Skills Challenge award and Tournament Finalist recognition, triple-qualifying for the world championships in April in Dallas, Tex.
The middle school robotics team REbotics dominated the 4th Annual STEM Squad VEX IQ Robotics Competition Challenge in Miami on January 27, winning three major awards and qualifying for the state championship in March. The team members, Dylan Kantesaria '29, Sidney Schwartz '29, James Sardina '29, Porter Sanderson '29 and Evan Powe '29 (not present), finished first in the Skills Challenge and won the Teamwork Challenge and Excellence Award, topping a field of more than 40 teams.
Three Ransom Everglades robotics teams claimed top awards at recent events. Alex Tevelow '28, Israel Garcia '28 and Isaac Zide '28 won the Build Award and earned second place in Robot Skills at the Robocats STEM Academy VEX IQ Robotics Competition Dec. 9 in Miami Lakes. On the same day in Homestead, Erick Gross '24, Gabriel Karsenti '26, Mateo Heitner '25, Victoria Paraoulaki de Miranda '24 and Ivan Rosenfeld '25 won the Think Award at the Jingle Bots VEX Robotics Competition.
Ransom Everglades’ "Raiders" robotics team – officially 4330R – earned top awards at three straight robotics tournaments and moved to No. 18 in the world in the VEX Robotics Competition World Skills Standings as the 2023-24 competitive season got underway. Victoria Paraoulaki de Miranda ’24, Erick Gross ’24, Mateo Heitner ’25, Ivan Rosenfeld ’25 and Gabriel Karsenti ’26 most recently claimed the Excellence Award, Robot Skills Champion and Tournament Champion at the VEX Robotics Competition High School "Over Under" South Florida Regional Qualifier that brought 50 teams to Ransom Everglades on Oct. 22.
An RE robotics team won the "build" award and finished third overall among 41 teams in the skills competition of the South Florida Regional VRC State Championships on March 4 in Southwest Ranches, Fla., as robotics coach Bob DuBard earned the Volunteer of the Year award. DuBard, who has led RE's upper school robotics program for years, coached "The Squad" team of Lucia Rose Dahn '23, Diego de Lope '23, Sofia Paraoulaki de Miranda '23, Victor Pérez '23, Pablo Rodriguez-Russowsky '23 and Luca Trebotich '23 to the state championship as well asduring their four years at the upper school.
The middle school robotics team of Dylan Kantesaria ’29, Sidney Schwartz ‘29 and Porter Sanderson ‘29 won the Teamwork Champion Award on Jan 29 at the 4th Annual Riviera Rams Robotics Open in Miami, advancing to the South Florida Regional Middle School VEX IQ State Championship on March 5. They will be accompanied by coaches Gus Palacios and Nelson Milian.
An RE robotics team of three juniors, a sophomore and one senior topped 22 teams to earn Tournament Champion recognition and the Excellence Award at a Dec. 3 event at Miami Jackson Senior High. Erick Gross '24, Mateo Heitner '25 and Victoria Paraoulaki de Miranda '24 represented the Raiders (a team that also includes Arjun Badwal ’23 and Varun Raju ’24, who were not able to attend) at the “Make It Happen” 2022-23 VEX Spin Up Tournament.
Two Ransom Everglades teams qualified for the VEX Robotics World Championships in Dallas on May 4-8: The Squad team of Lucia Rose Dahn '23, Diego de Lope '23, Victor Perez '23, Pablo Rodriguez-Russowsky '23 and Luca Trebotich ’23; and the Dark Matter team of Dashiell DeStefano '22, Emma G '23, Sofia Paraoulaki de Miranda '23, Max Vallone '22 and Alex Van Lidth ’22. All of RE's robotics teams train under STEM Department faculty member Bob DuBard.

RE's Dark Matter team of Dashiell DeStefano '22, Emma G '23, Sofia Paraoulaki de Miranda '23, Max Vallone '22 and Alex Van Lidth '22, double-qualified for the event by claiming a tournament championship and Excellence Award at the February 5 VEX Robotics Competition in Fort Myers, Fla.
Ransom Everglades' "Squad" team of Lucia Rose Dahn '23, Diego de Lope '23, Victor Perez '23, Pablo Rodriguez-Russowsky '23 and Luca Trebotich '23 earned Tournament Champions recognition along with a team from Calvary Christian Academy at the VEX Robotics Competition Miami Coral Park Senior High Blended Tournament on November 13.
