Raiders advance to district semifinal
Eighth grader Nica Rosenberg '28 led the way with 10 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals as the Raiders cruised to a 40-9 victory in the class 3A district 15 girls basketball quarterfinals over Downtown Doral. Senior Gabby Pena '24 added thirteen points and 8 rebounds in the win. The victory moves the team to 16-9 on the season as they prepare for a district semifinal contest at home against Posnack Wednesday evening. Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. as part of doubleheader with the first semifinal of the evening beginning at 5:00 p.m. Should the Raiders win they will advance to the district final Friday at 6:00 p.m at Ransom Everglades.Read More -
Girls basketball wins in double overtime
Freshman Luisa Duarte '27 came up clutch knocking down two free throws late in double overtime to give the Raiders a lead they would not relinquish in a 67-63 victory over Calvary Christian. Junior Taylor Smith '25 provided fireworks of her own with six three pointers, two of which came late in regulation and overtime to tie the game on both occasions. Senior Gabby Pena' 24 was terrific with 25 points, 13 rebounds, and six steals including a free throw with one second left in the first overtime period to send the game to double overtime. From there the Raiders found a way to get stops on defense and convert timely baskets on offense to seal the victory. The Raiders will get back to the practice court today as they prepare for their final regular season game on the road at Terra Environmental tomorrow afternoon. Girls basketball raises money for Parkinson's Disease on special day
Three victories from the middle school, junior varsity and varsity program were just a small part of what was a special day for the Ransom Everglades girls basketball program as they raised money and awareness for those battling Parkinson's disease. All three program combined to host a bake sale and sell t-shirts with all proceeds going to the Parkinson's foundation. In front of a large crowd the Raiders brought their A game on the court. At the varsity level freshman Holly Clement '27 put on a show with 21 points including five three pointers to defeat Westminster Christian 56-32. Senior Gabby Pena' 24 continued her solid play with 18 points, 13 rebounds and five steals. Raiders run win streak to six in 37-18 victory over Coral Shores
In front of the home crowd, the Raiders pulled away from Coral Shores early in the second half in a 37-18 victory. Eighth grader Nica Rosenberg '28 led the way with 16 points including four three pointers all coming in the second half. Senior Gabby Pena '24 dominated the glass with a season high 21 rebounds. Defensively, the the Raiders received strong guard play from junior Taylor Smith '25, and freshman Holly Clement '27 and Luisa Duerte '27 who combined for 10 steals and four blocks. The victory moves the Raiders to 10-8 on the season and in strong position to earn their fourth consecutive regional bid as they head into the final two weeks of the regular season.Read More -
Girls basketball earns best win of the season
Down two points with 30 seconds left, eighth grader Nica Rosenberg '28 delivered the shot of the season with a go ahead three pointer from the right wing to give the raiders a critical victory over Gulliver Prep as they fight for a regional berth. Senior Gabby Pena '24 carried the raiders for much of the game with timely baskets and double digit rebounds including the game winning steal with three seconds left. Junior Taylor Smith '25 continued her strong season knocking down a pair of three pointers to go along with three assists in the victory. Raiders celebrate senior night with victory over LaSalle
Senior Gabby Pena '24 led the way with 15 points, 10 rebounds, 5 blocks, and four steals in a hard fought victory over LaSalle to get the new year off to positive start on the raiders home floor. Senior Ana Cury '24 delivered her best performance of the season with seven points, 11 rebounds, and four steals. Junior Taylor Smith '25 added nine points including a pair of three pointers early in the first quarter to give the raiders a 9-1 lead. Defensively, the team held LaSalle to 17% shooting from the field in route to a 13 point victory. Four players scored in double figures as the Raiders rolled to a 62-7 victory to close out a 3-0 week. Freshman Holly Clement '27 led the way with 18 points and eighth grader Nica Rosenberg '28 added 17 in the victory. Junior Taylor Smith '25 and senior Gabby Pena '24 each had ten points of their own to round out the scoring. The Raiders jumped out to an early 15-0 lead in the first two minutes of play. Defensively the team held Downtown Doral scoreless for the quarter and cruised to victory from there. Raiders win on teacher appreciation night
Senior Gabby Pena '24 led the way with 18 points, six rebounds, and five steals as the Raiders picked up their first victory of the season. Junior Taylor Smith '25 and freshman Holly Clement '27 combined for 20 points and 10 steals in their best performances of the season. Before tip off the Raiders honored many of their teachers who have had significant impacts on their high school journey as part of winter sports teacher appreciation week.
