Raider water polo sweeps senior night

The evening celebrated the seniors’ contributions, and they delivered with strong performances in their final regular-season home games. In the girls matchup against Miami Country Day School, the Raiders combined dominant defense with balanced scoring. Six players found the net, including seniors Lucy Hansen '26, Ellie Stokes '26, and Elsa Trebotich '26. Sophomore Eleanor Kriplen '28 led the way with 7 goals in a 12–7 win. The boys team battled through a slow start but showed resilience throughout. Senior Ollie Friedland '26 scored the team’s first three goals to keep the Raiders close, while fellow senior Lincoln Broad '26 sparked the offense with three goals in the third quarter. The Raiders closed strong to secure a 12–10 victory. A fitting Senior Night result, as both teams showcased the leadership and determination that define Raiders water polo. -

Both teams are in strong form heading into the final stretch of the regular season next week. The action continues with Senior Night on Wednesday against Miami Country Day, followed by the Ransom Everglades Water Polo Invitational this weekend. The success at the tournament reflects the hard work, depth, and growing confidence on both rosters as they prepare for postseason play. With balanced scoring, strong defensive efforts, and consistent performances in goal, the Raiders are building momentum at the right time and look poised to finish the regular season on a high note. -
Raider boys water polo win Ian Supra Tournament
Read MoreThis past weekend, the Raiders girls and boys water polo teams traveled to Orlando to compete in the Ian Supra Memorial Tournament, a championship-level event that brought out the best in both squads.The girls battled through two tight losses on day one but showed resilience and determination on day two. They earned back-to-back one-goal victories over Dr. Phillips High School and Winter Park High School. In the matchup against Winter Park, the offense was powered by Ellie Stokes (’26) with three goals and Eleanor Kriplen ’28 with four. The girls’ perseverance secured them a strong 9th-place finish overall.The boys set the tone early, finishing the first day with two wins. A dominant defensive performance, anchored by standout goalie Leo Church-Shulman ’27, led to a decisive victory over Christopher Columbus High School. The momentum continued into day two with two more wins, culminating in a championship victory over St. Thomas Aquinas High School. In the finals, Oliver Friedland ’26 scored three goals, while Jack Merrick '26 added four to lead the Raiders to a first-place finish. Throughout the weekend, both teams had the opportunity to meet Chris Supra, Ian’s father, who shared a meaningful message about working toward your goals and finding reward in the effort itself — a fitting reminder during a championship weekend. -
Raiders dominate defending state champions in 17-6 route

They closed out the first quarter with a 3–1 lead and never looked back, finishing with a commanding 17–6 victory. It was another incredible team effort led by junior Aston Gould '27, who tallied five goals and four assists. Senior Jack Merrick ’26 contributed four goals and three steals, while Oliver Friedland ’26 added two goals, two assists, and drew four ejections. Defensively, junior Leo Church-Schulman ’27 anchored the squad with 10 blocks, leading the effort alongside senior defenders Jay Holly ’26 and Luke Jaffee ’26. The Raiders improve to 6–0 and will travel to Orlando for the Ian Supra Memorial Tournament on February 27–28. -

The Raider girls kicked things off with a hard-fought win over regional rival MAST Academy, edging out a 19–17 victory in a thrilling opener. The Raiders jumped out to a 7–4 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Sophomore Eleanor Kriplen '28 led the offensive charge with an impressive 9 goals, while senior Elsa Trebotich '26 added 4 goals and 3 assists. Seniors Lucy Hansen '26, Ellia Stokes '26, and sophomore Amalia Macias '28 each chipped in two goals to round out a balanced attack. On the defensive end, freshman goalie Dorothy Spencer-Funchion '29 stood tall with 10 blocks, anchoring the Raiders’ effort in the cage.
The Raider boys dominated from the opening sprint, controlling the game on both ends of the pool and finishing with an outstanding 78% shooting performance. Senior Lincoln Broad '26 paced the offense with a huge all-around effort, posting 5 goals, 4 assists, 4 steals, and drawing 3 ejections. Seniors Oliver Friedland and Jack Merrick '26 matched him with 5 goals a piece, while senior Jay Holly '26 contributed 3 goals and junior Aston Gould '27 added 1 goal and 5 assists. Defensively, junior goalie Leo Church-Schulman '27 led the way with 12 blocks to secure the win. With both teams earning opening night victories, Raider water polo is off to a strong and exciting start this season.
