    Middle school musicians demonstrate progress and dedication

    RE's middle school musicians and singers showed their promise and dedication at the end-of-year Middle School Strings & Chorus Concert at Swenson Hall on May 13. The lively concert featured all three levels of the middle school string orchestra, five songs by the middle school chorus and special recognition for the program's eighth graders. Strings Music Director Scott O'Donnell and Middle School Choral Director Arn Xu offered the Swenson Hall audience insight into their students' progress, the performance choices and their students' efforts.     Inaugural Excellence in Arts Awards celebrate performing and visual artists

    The inaugural Excellence in Arts Awards event on April 22 recognized all of Ransom Everglades' performing and visual arts students and faculty and bestowed special awards on 10 of student-artists. The end-of-year celebration in the Lewis Family Auditorium also featured remarks from guest speaker William Hector '11, the festival director of the inaugural Coconut Grove Theatre Festival, who shared how what he learned as a drama student at RE guides him to this day. Interim Arts Department Chair Cathi Leibinger emceed the event, announcing winners of five new awards.

  • Hudson Kaplan '25, Ethan Sullivan '25, Jack He '25, Max Salomon '25

    Four RE seniors named National Merit Scholars

    Jack He '25, Hudson Kaplan '25, Max Salomon '25 and Ethan Sullivan '25 were named 2025 National Merit Scholars and will receive $2,500 scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The students, among 2,500 scholars nationwide selected from 15,000 finalists, earned the prestigious awards in recognition of their leadership, potential for success in college, academic record, community activities and PSAT scores. Each submitted a detailed scholarship application after being named a semifinalist last fall.

  • Dancers honor departing seniors at All-School Dance Showcase

    The Ransom Everglades All-School Dance Showcase offered a tribute to fame, fashion and color that highlighted all tiers of the RE dance program and honored departing seniors Lexi Barna '25 and Cianna Vengoechea Schiff '25. Under the direction of dance teachers Tess Guidry and Desiree Massucci Balseiro, RE dancers in the sixth through 12th grades showed their versatility with a range of styles and musical choices in front of a packed house at the Lewis Family Auditorium on May 2. Founded in 1903, Ransom Everglades School is a coeducational, college preparatory day school for grades 6 - 12 located on two campuses in Coconut Grove, Florida. Ransom Everglades School produces graduates who "believe that they are in the world not so much for what they can get out of it as for what they can put into it." The school provides rigorous college preparation that promotes the student's sense of identity, community, personal integrity and values for a productive and satisfying life, and prepares the student to lead and to contribute to society.
