RE wins middle school national history bowl
Ransom Everglades' middle school history team – Parker Jelke '27, Zach Corbin Cheah '27, Lucas Gonzalez '27 and Jaz Puri '28 – won the national championship in the National History Bowl June 4 in Washington, D.C., never trailing in any game and posting a 10-0 record. During the same International Academic Competitions Middle School and Elementary National Championships, Jelke won second place in the eighth-grade National History Bee, making it one of the most successful academic tournaments ever under coach Joe Mauro.
RE's team defeated Risdon Middle School from Newcastle, Wash., in the final by a 280-200 score. Watch the final round here. Jelke also claimed a third-place finish in the U.S. History Bee, and Gonzalez scored a second place on the Ancient History Exam.

Founded in 1903, Ransom Everglades School is a coeducational, college preparatory day school for grades 6 - 12 located on two campuses in Coconut Grove, Florida. Ransom Everglades School produces graduates who "believe that they are in the world not so much for what they can get out of it as for what they can put into it." The school provides rigorous college preparation that promotes the student's sense of identity, community, personal integrity and values for a productive and satisfying life, and prepares the student to lead and to contribute to society.
