REpeat for boys' cross country in district championship
Fueled by the dominant first-place finish of reigning state runner-up David Serra '24, RE's boys' cross country team won its second consecutive title at the Florida High School Athletic Association 2A District 8 Championships on Nov. 1. Serra coasted to his second straight individual district title in the 5,000 meters, winning by a 42-second margin and topping the field of 128 with a finish in 16 minutes, 14.29 seconds.
Contributing to the Raiders' first-place team score under coach Don Kappelman were fifth-place Alexander Azqueta '24 (17:34.73); sixth-place George Wood-Leness '24 (17:48.03); 10th-place Ethan Sullivan '25 (17:58.89); and 12th-place Nelson Manstein '26 (18:04.19).
The girls' team under coach Mike Becker finished second overall behind the fifth-place finish of Sophia Linfield '26 (20:18.59) and the ninth place of Anna Lavernia '25 (21:17.51).
