Hundreds of children enjoy RE campuses on St. Alban's Day

Ransom Everglades students welcomed hundreds of young visitors from local schools to St. Alban's Day on both campuses on December 8. A 50-plus-year tradition at RE, the annual winter carnivals offered winter-themed activities, lively entertainment and holiday spirit. Nearly 200 children joined the festivities at the upper school and nearly 300 visited the middle school.

On both campuses, RE students in holiday garb distributed gift bags and accompanied their children on train rides, escorted them through petting zoos, helped them with cookie decorating and face painting, offered them carnival snacks and made sure they sampled the many other activities ranging from science experiments to ball games to visits with Santa. The middle school completed its winter wonderland with fake snow; the upper school featured a bubble machine and tours of a fire truck.

The sophomore class planned the upper school activities with the guidance of advisors Emily Aungst and Beatriz Marques, and middle school students worked under the direction of "chief elf" Cathi Leibinger. Children from St. Alban's Child Enrichment Center in Coconut Grove and South Miami visited the upper school along with students in the pre-K programs at Shenandoah Elementary and Silver Bluff Elementary. Children from Tucker, Wheatley, Santa Clara and Holmes elementary schools attended the middle school event.
