RE Combo medals at Berklee Jazz Festival

The RE Combo won honorable mention for the second year in a row at the prestigious Berklee High School Jazz Festival in Boston. One hundred twenty-seven schools from 15 states competed at the Feb. 11 event, considered the biggest high school band competition in the world. Ransom Everglades was only of only two schools from Florida to earn a medal.
Ben Arriola '18, Rafi Jimenez '17, Ryan Tie-Shue '18, Luca Gonzalez-Abreu '18, Jacob Tie-Shue '18, Joon Kim '17 and Leo Menninger '18 competed under band director Jon Hamm. Big bands, combos, and vocal jazz ensembles performed and were adjudicated by a panel of Berklee’s top faculty. Oxbridge Academy of the Palm Beaches also won a medal.

The RE Combo also earned straight A's at the district championship for the eighth consecutive year, advancing to the state event in Pompano Beach on March 31.
