    Professional community members honored for years of service, impactful careers and awards

    The Ransom Everglades professional community gathered to celebrate the careers of four highly respected retiring faculty members, recognize 21 employees for significant years-of-service milestones and honor two departing colleagues. The emotion-filled June 4 event featured moving tributes and multiple standing ovations. The highlight: the recognition of retiring faculty Cathi Leibinger, RE's newest faculty emeritus after 26 years at RE, Heidi Steen (20 years), Kathryn Bufkin (18 years) and Jody Salzinger (17 years), who ended their tenures at RE with a combined 81 years of service.

    Students capture and tag sharks during field research trip on Biscayne Bay

    Ransom Everglades upper school students captured and tagged three sharks during a research outing to the Stiltsville area of Biscayne Bay this past spring. The highlight of the curriculum for the upper school "Biology and Ecology of Sharks" course, the research excursion in March allowed students in grades 10 through 12 to get hands-on scientific experience by performing comprehensive scientific workups on three sharks.

    Eighth graders 'sent up' to the upper school

    Ransom Everglades welcomed its eighth-grade class to the upper school on May 29 during the annual Eighth-Grade Send-Up ceremony at the Lewis Family Auditorium. The traditional milestone event celebrated the 177 students in the Class of 2030, marking their transition from middle school to high school life.
