Eight athletes earn all-county first team honors

Eight spring sport athletes – four from water polo and four from lacrosse – earned first-team all-county recognition from the Miami Herald in its annual student-athlete rankings. Water polo players Oliver Friedland '26, Jack Merrick '26, Sydney Gould '25 and Eleanor Kriplen '28 were named along with lacrosse athletes Winston Hosford '27, Rauli Matos '26, Alicia Medina '26 and Caitlyn White '27. Ethan Sullivan '25 was a finalist for Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Merrick and Friedland led RE to the district championship final; Merrick scored 145 goals, claimed 44 steals and drew 64 ejections. Friedland scored 62 goals, tallied 60 assists and had 62 steals. Gould scored 78 goals, had 48 assists and collected 61 steals. Kriplen notched 80 goals, had 29 assists and nabbed 51 steals.

For the lacrosse team, Hosford, a defender, tallied 13 goals, 14 assists, 69 ground balls and 49 takeaways. Matos, also a defender, accrued 5 goals, 10 assists, 101 ground balls and 40 takeaways. Attacker Medina scored 41 goals and had 10 assists, 19 ground balls and four caused turnovers. Defender Caitlyn White had 30 ground balls, 16 caused turnovers and one draw control.
