Ransom Everglades Rallies Past Oxbridge Prep in Penalty Shootout Thriller

The Ransom Everglades boys varsity soccer team battled back from an early deficit to defeat Oxbridge Prep in dramatic fashion, winning 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in regulation. The Raiders started flat-footed, struggling to find rhythm and allowing Oxbridge to strike first just five minutes into the match. After regrouping during the first water break, Ransom Everglades took control of possession and dictated the pace for the remainder of the game. Their persistence paid off about 10 minutes into the second half when they found the equalizer. Late drama unfolded as Oxbridge regained the lead off a free kick with just three minutes left, but the Raiders refused to quit. With one minute remaining, senior Jake Davies '26 fired a brilliant shot from outside the box into the bottom left corner to tie the game at 2-2 and force penalties. In the shootout, Davies '26, Ricky Cury ‘26, Justin Beckam ‘28, and Lucas Rua ‘26 all converted from the spot, while freshman goalkeeper Gustavo Pombo '29 came up with a key save to secure the 4-2 win. The victory showcased the Raiders’ resilience and composure under pressure as they continue to build momentum early in the season.
