Raiders pick up first win of season in five set thriller

The Raider boys volleyball team picked up its first win of the season in a thrilling five-set match over Homestead High School. Junior Shai Waizbrot (‘27) led the way with a dominant all-around performance, recording 15 kills, 4 aces, and 20 digs. Senior Tariq Maduro (‘26) continued his strong final season with 20 kills, 3 blocks, and 26 digs, helping anchor the Raiders on both sides of the net. Freshman setter Jahan Jayanetti (‘29) orchestrated the offense with 33 assists while also contributing 17 digs. The Raiders came out firing, taking the first two sets 25–23 and 25–22. Homestead battled back to claim sets three and four, forcing a decisive fifth set. Showing grit and composure, the Raiders closed out the match with a 15–13 victory in the final set. The Raiders will return to the practice court today as they prepare for a road matchup against SLAM Academy (Sports Leadership and Management) on Wednesday afternoon, with first serve scheduled for 4:00 PM.
