Girls' lacrosse captures district title with impressive victory

Putting a celebratory stamp on a season defined by resilience and perseverence, Ransom Everglades girls’ lacrosse team secured the Class 1A District 16 championship on April 14 with a 12-9 victory over top-seeded Palmer Trinity. The underdog victory on the road represented Raiders' sixth straight win after a shaky 3-5 start to the season.
Coach Bridgette Laskey has no won sixt district titles as coach of RE girls' lacrosse. The decisive victory avenged a narrow, one-goal loss to Palmer Trinity in March, showcasing the team's significant progress over the season's last six weeks.

“The players responded as one, playing for something bigger than themselves,” Laskey said. “Along the way, they reached incredible individual milestones that reflected their collective drive. They proved that resilience, unity and belief in each other will always outwork circumstances.”

The Raiders were led by Abby Pollak '26, who scored four goals and drew eight draw controls. Alicia Medina '26 and Bea Alves de Lima '26 each scored three goals while Nina Lazo '30 and Dylan Berkowitz '26 also contributed scores.

Goalkeeper Aziza Apara '29 stood tall with seven saves, supported by Caitlyn White '27, who anchored the backline. Zoe Burris '26, Lola Pegg '26, and Phia Ranawat '27 neutralized Palmer Trinity’s transition game with stifling defense to help and secure the title for the Raiders.
