Raider swimming performs well at American Heritage meet

Raider swimming turned in a strong performance Wednesday evening at the AHPL vs. Ransom vs. Somerset meet, highlighted by three event victories, including two individual wins and a relay victory. On the boys' side, sophomore Clayton Serflek '29 delivered a winning performance in the 100-yard backstroke, touching the wall first in 1:03.64. Eighth grader Ivar Kostowicz '31 also earned an individual victory, taking first place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:11.01. The Raiders also captured the top spot in the boys' 200-yard freestyle relay, as seniors Aston Gould '27, Luke Schneider '27,  freshman Noah Lopes '30, and  eighth grader Ivar Kostowicz '31 combined to finish in 1:38.67, nearly four seconds ahead of the Somerset relay. Ransom's boys also posted several strong runner-up finishes. Gould '27 finished second in the 50-yard freestyle in 24.23, while sophomore Owen Zhao '29 was second in the 100-yard freestyle in 55.37. The Raiders' A relay teams also finished second in both the 200-yard medley relay (1:49.97) and 400-yard freestyle relay (3:40.21).
The girls' team was led by several strong individual performances, including junior Eleanor Kriplen '28, who finished second in both the 200-yard freestyle (2:08.74) and 100-yard freestyle (56.53). Sophie Szutkowski added second-place finishes in the 500-yard freestyle (5:42.31) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.20).
The girls' 200-yard medley relay team of juniors Eleanor Kriplen '28, Sophie Szutkowski '28, senior Anji Gupta '27, and sophomore Hannah May '29 finished second in 2:01.97. Overall, the Raiders showcased strong depth across both individual and relay events, with three victories and numerous top-two finishes against strong competition from AHPL and Somerset.
