RE drama students score big at the Florida State Thespian Festival
Thirteen Ransom Everglades drama students traveled to Tampa to participate in the 2026 Florida State Thespian Festival, which brought together talented students from across the state March 18-21 for workshops, masterclasses and competitive evaluations. Austin Sayfie Aagaard ’26 and Bella Sayfie Ranawat ’26 led the RE contingent in the evaluation portion of the festival by achieving Superior ratings in the individual "Thespy" competitions – Aagaard in Acting and Sayfie Ranawat in Solo Musical Theatre.
Several other students earned Excellent ratings for their performances: Morgan Williams ’26, Lucas Sanchez ’27 and Charlie Derick ’26, and Sofie Delic ’28 and Harlan Hoenig ’28 in the Duet Musical category. Katy Elgarresta ’27, Blythe Silvetz ’27, Dylan Turkel ’27, Cecile Etzbach ’29, Vivi Pasos ’28 and Flavia Contreras ’28 also represented RE at the event.
The festival provided students with the opportunity to engage with theatre professionals and observe student productions from throughout Florida. Performing arts faculty member Jesús Quintero noted that the trip also offered an opportunity for RE to reestablish the school's presence at the state level.
"Our students represented Ransom Everglades with commitment, professionalism and artistic rigor," Quintero said. "Their results reflect both individual achievement and collective growth."
