Alumni connecting with students through meaningful history

Former U.S. Marine Todd Mestepey ’91 and Emerson Fales ’86 each offered Ransom Everglades students powerful lessons about history and community.
During an upper school assembly in honor of Veterans Day, Lt. Mestepey reflected on the impact of his years in the Marines, reminding students of the value of service and leadership in their own lives. His message resonated deeply, earning him a standing ovation from the RE community.

Later in the month, RE’s sixth graders engaged in their own exploration of history during a multifaceted experiential trip through Coconut Grove. Led by Fales, the Class of 2032 discovered the rich cultural heritage of the Little Bahamas neighborhood. Through hands-on learning, exploration and community engagement, the students gained a deeper appreciation for the people and stories that shaped their school and its surroundings.

Together, both experiences underscored the RE core value of Service and Community.
