Artists recognized in 'Celebrating Art' and Drexel University competitions
Ransom Everglades visual artists on both campuses won recognition in two prestigious art and photography competitions. Eleven middle and upper school students were selected for publication in the Fall 2025 Art Contestsponsored by Celebrating Art and Blick Art Materials. In the realm of digital media, three upper school photographers achieved top-tier rankings in the Drexel University High School Photography Contest.
The Celebrating Arts competition is highly selective, with only the top 35% of entries from across the United States invited for inclusion in the anthology. RE students recognized: Gabby Green ’32, Isabel Arango Tobar ’32, Jackie Fader ’32, Margot Preston ’32, Gaby Villamizar ’32, Celine Yang ’32, Dylan Kern ’32, Zander Keshavarzi ’32, Christian Hadjilogiou ’31, Eve Simmons ’31, and Sloane Mason ’27. By being selected for this national showcase, these students have had their work vetted against thousands of entries submitted by student artists from across the country.
This year’s Drexel University High School Photography Contest drew over 2,100 entries from young photographers nationwide. Daniel Depass-Jurberg ’28 and Daniela White ’27 were named Finalists, placing their work among the top 128 entries in the country. Sophia Biss ’26 earned one of only six Honorable Mentions awarded in the entire competition. All are students of Visual Arts Deparment Chair Matt Stock.
As part of her recognition, Biss's photograph will be on display at Drexel University’s URBN Center lobby in Philadelphia from February 2 to 27. Her work also garnered national attention by being featured in Drexel’s official announcement sent to participants and educators throughout the United States.
