RE football extends Battle for the Oar winning streak

The Raiders closed out a successful regular season with a victory over Palmer Trinity, 36-7, in the "Battle for the Oar" game – a tradition that spans more than 50 years. The Raiders retained the oar for the seventh consecutive year with the dominant victory on the road led by running back Noah Alce '28 and RE's offensive line. The team heads to the postseason with a 9-1 record under coach Joe Supple.
Alce rushed for 253 yards on 23 carries, including two rushing touchdowns, one an explosive 75-yard burst. Wide receiver Colton Smith ’28 continued his torrid pace, hauling in six catches for 61 yards and a touchdown, surpassing 1,000 receiving yards on the season. Benji Rodriguez '29 added three catches, including a touchdown.

Quarterback Alfonso Llanes ’29 continued to lead the offense with poise, completing 19 of 27 passes for 263 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Hunter White ’27 led the way with eight tackles and three sacks, continuing an outstanding season. But perhaps the biggest play of the afternoon came from cornerback Finn McCarron ’28. With Palmer Trinity driving and threatening to make it a one-score game, McCarron intercepted a pass and raced 90 yards for a pick-six, extending the Raider lead to 29-7.

The Raiders have a week off before they turn their attention toward the regional playoffs, which begin November 13.
