Strong showing for RE crew at 2026 FSRA Sweep State Championships

The Ransom Everglades crew team delivered a series of standout performances at the 2026 Florida Scholastic Rowing Association (FSRA) Sweep State Championships April 25-26 in Sarasota. Competing against the state's premier programs, the Raiders secured impressive scholastic rankings and a national qualification.
The weekend’s top highlight came from the Boys Junior Four, which secured a ticket to the SRAA National Championships in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The crew – Cohen McDaniel ’28, Caden Carruthers ’28, Jeffrey Tong ’28, Erasmo de Souza ’28 and coxswain Lila Mosse ’27– finished fifth, earning a third-place scholastic ranking in the state.

The Boys Junior Eight also earned a third-place finish among schools. The team, Alexandros Quintero ’28, Henry Albanese ’28, William Stockman ’28, Jack Akselrad ’28, Atakan Turgut ’28, Henry Greengrass ’28, Charles Gershman ’29, Sebastian Appel ’29 and coxswain Maya Bhandari ’28, crossed the line sixth overall.

In the small boat events, the Boys Varsity Pair of Aarav Jindal ’26 and Mateo Sauceda ’26 placed second in the B Final, securing sixth place scholastically and 10th overall.

On the girls' side, the Junior 4+ crew – Gabrielle Heckler ’27, Lucianna Adatto ’27, Ryan Vinocur ’28, Sara Uribe ’28 and coxswain Ava Crowley ’27 – placed third in their final to finish sixth overall scholastically.

In the Freshman 4+ category, RE fielded two competitive boats:
  • The "A" Boat, Sofiya Dewan ’29, Dakota Hock ’30, Valentina Grunauer Cordova ’29, Diana Graziano ’29 and coxswain Maya Lee-Schonfeld ’30, took 2nd in the B Final to finish seventh scholastically.
  • The "B" Boat, Gwen Rubini ’30, Sydney Forrester ’29, Ivy Leto ’29, Faith Simmons ’29 and coxswain Elianna Schimmel ’29, finished eighth in the B Final, placing 11th scholastically.
The Raiders were led by boys' head coach Andrii Ivanchuk and girls' head coach Tim McAllister.
