Upper school academic teams excel at fall invitational
Ransom Everglades upper school academic teams claimed first, second and fourth places at the South Florida Fall Invitational on October 11 on the Ransom Campus. Twelve teams from South Florida and Florida's southwest coast competed in the event, a qualifying tournament for the National Academic Quiz Tournaments (NAQT) national championship in Atlanta in May. The winning team of Parker Jelke '27, Noah Veras '29, Julian Jelke '29 and Alex Tevelow '28 and the second-place finishers Jack Gonzalez '28, Harlan Hoenig '28, Ethan Moskovitz '27 and Selin Kaleli '28 advanced to nationals with their results.
Zachary Corbin-Cheah '27, Sophia Sachar '29, Lucas Antia '29 and Idris Huggins '29 finished in fourth place as two other Raider squads also competed with Honor & Excellence. RE's teams are coached by faculty members Abby Berler and Branly Fontaine. Teams from as far as Naples and Fort Myers participated in the event, which was organized in part by RE academic team alumnus Leo Fein '23.
