Robotics teams win awards at regional events

Three RE robotics teams – including two teams of sixth graders competing in their first robotics events for Ransom Everglades – claimed major awards during regional robotics events in November. The sixth-grade teams won Sportsmanship and Think awards, and a team of sophomores and juniors won a Create award.
The upper school team known as Dark Matter won the Create Award at the VEX Tower Takeover at Immokalee High School Nov. 2. That team includes Alex Van Lidth '22, Andre Joseph '22, Max Vallone '22, Dashiel DeStefano '22, Jonah Bennett '21 and Felipe Clavijo '21

At the STEM Squad competition at McMillan Middle School, Angelo Perez '26, Tino Pena '26, Eduardo Mascarenas de Sabrit '26 and Ryan Michael Alesandro '26 made it to the finals and won the Sportsmanship award. Connor Mark Alfonso '26, Patrick William Keedy Brown '26 and Matheus Antoniazzi Dabus '26 came in second place in the Skills Challenge and won the Think award.

The upper school teams are coached by Bob DuBard and the middle school teams by Gus Palacios and Jim Oxsalida.
