Seventh grader places first in Mathcounts

Two middle school students finished in the top 10 of the 2020 Mathcounts Miami Chapter Competition, with Solon Sun '25 winning first place individually, topping some 270 students from 41 schools, and Victoria Paraoulaki de Miranda '24 earning seventh place. The pair led RE's math team, which included Ethan Thomas '25 and Robert Li '26, to a fourth-place overall and qualification to the state Mathcounts competition in March. The team was led by math teacher Ginny Onorati.
Sun was the first RE student to win the competition since John Mistele '17 won it in 2013. Nine RE students finished in the top 25 percent of the event's finishers.
