Demonstrating our resolve

Resolve is one of those words that we have heard frequently during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it has become a "high frequency" word around Ransom Everglades. My colleagues in World Languages will understand the reference. It is right up there with words and phrases like “pivot”; “mitigate”; “plexi(glass)”; “asynchronous”; “these uncertain times”; “out of an abundance of caution”; and “super-spreader.”
Many of these words I hope will eventually fall into disuse, but I plan to hang onto resolve and not just
because of the RE. I do like, however, how well it fits in with our branding. Resolve is, quite simply, a good word.

For those parents who listened to the senior leadership team last night in the Zoom meeting (if you missed it, find the recording here), you know that we are resolved to keep school open. This week of remote school is allowing us to regain the footing and momentum we had attained in the fall. The required COVID-19 tests provide us an extra level of protection when we return to campus next week, and we are confident that our mitigation strategies of the fall will continue to serve us well in the second semester.

We are very much aware of the current epidemic surge, and we will communicate if we reach a point that makes in-person learning untenable. We are ready to pivot to remote learning with little warning. We expect our parents and students to adhere to the Community Health Commitment that we all signed at the beginning of the year. Wear masks; limit social gatherings; stay away from crowded public spaces, especially those indoors. In all likelihood, the surge will peak and then decrease, much as it did last summer. We are hopeful that the increased availability of the vaccine will cause further decrease in cases. Until then, we must keep and perhaps even strengthen our resolve so that school stays open, and our community stays healthy.

I send my best for good health and happiness in 2021, and I thank you for the myriad ways you, too, have demonstrated your resolve.
