Five Raiders claim all-county honors for winter sports

Five Ransom Everglades' soccer players – including four from the state runner-up boys' team – earned first-team, all-county honors from the Miami Herald for high school winter sports as more than 20 Raiders were recognized in the April 4 announcement. Jasper Broad ’22, Mather Davidson ’23, David Pulido ’22, Juan Rivera ’22 and Christian Sosa ’22 will be invited to an end-of-year banquet to celebrate first-team selections from 2021-22 and announce a player of the year for each Florida High School Athletic Association sport.
Eleven members of the boys' soccer team and five from the girls' soccer team earned spots in the Herald's annual lists of first-team, second-team, third-team and honorable-mention athletes. Six basketball players earned recognition.

Scoring second-team honors: girls' soccer players Hannah Badia ’22 and Lua Balestra ’22; boys' soccer players Nicky Denaro ’22, Dillan Kaye ’22, Kobe Lopez ’23 and Nicolas Sosa ’23. Boys' basketball player Daniel Ribeiro ’23 also made the list. The third team: girls' basketball player Kathryn Serra ’23 and girls' soccer players Sophia Rua ’24 and Sophia Salgueiro ’22. Seven players (see below) earned honorable mention.

Among the first team selections, Broad allowed just five goals for the Raiders while posting a school record 15 shutouts. Pulido, a midfielder, scored five goals and notched five assists; defender Rivera scored one goal and added two assists; defender Sosa tallied six goals and two assists; and Davidson, a defender, tallied eight goals and had four assists.
