Raiders advance to title game on two-point conversion

Quarterback Jackson Pegg '23 led the way throwing for 312 yards and four touchdowns as the Raiders overcame a 13-0 deficit to defeat Coral Shores 36-35 in double overtime in the Florida Independent Football Conference Semifinal Oct. 28 at Walker field. Alex Fernandez-Andrew '24 and Mateo Gutierrez '25 saved the day with a blocked field goal at the end of regulation to keep the game tied at 28 apiece.
Both teams failed to score in the first overtime session. Coral Shores found the end zone and converted the extra point to take a 35-28 lead in the second overtime session. Having to match the Hurricanes' score, Pegg found senior A.J. Srebnick '23 over the middle for a touchdown, setting up the opportunity for the Raiders to go for the win with a two-point conversion. Pegg found Gabe Menendez de Alencar '23 in the back of the end zone for a walkoff victory and a berth in the Independent League championship Nov. 4 at Tropical Park against Archbishop Carroll. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
