RE students win writing awards

Four Ransom Everglades students won recognition in the 2022 La Plume Young Writers’ Contest, a competition open to students throughout Miami-Dade County. Patrick Keedy Brown ’26 earned a first place in the middle school division (entries were submitted last school year); Lucia Rose Dahn ’23 and Sophia Romanov-Imber ’24 earned second place in the high school competition; and Garrett Fox ’26 received an honorary award from the middle school division.
The competition invites students to express themselves through short stories; they are subject to rules relevant to their various grade levels. A panel of professionals from the literary, educational and art worlds evaluates all submissions.

The students’ final, edited pieces will be compiled in an e-book. Keedy Brown submitted his entry, Diary, under the direction of teacher Flavia Araripe; Dahn submitted Downpour under former RE teacher Gila Aloni; Romanov-Imber shared Anya under Corinne Rhyner; and Fox worked on What’s Happened to Our World under Shaida Whitley.
