RE sweeps gold medals at South Florida History Bee and Bowl

Ransom Everglades won all five gold medals awarded at the 2023 South Florida History Bee and Bowl as RE students earned the high school, junior varsity and middle school team and individual titles. Daniel Figueroa '24 won the individual high school bee and joined Jacob Aronow '26, Lucas Blanco '24 and Liam Forand '24 on the winning high school bowl team. Parker Jelke '27 earned gold in the JV bee and also joined Lucas Gonzalez '27, Gabrielle Tchira '27 and Nico Juhasz '26 in winning first place in the JV bowl.
RE's middle school team of Jaz Puri '28, Jack Gonzalez '28, Harlan Hoenig '28 and Noah Veras '29 won first in the middle school bowl as Puri and Jack Corbin Cheah '27 scored second and third places in the JV bee. The team of Julian Jelke '29, Evan Powe '29, Ella Griffin '29 and Ciaran Clingan '29 finished second in the middle school bowl.

Under the direction of coaches Joe Mauro, Branly Fontaine and Abby Berler, RE's championship teams posted a combined 15-0 record at the Dec. 9 International Academic Competitions event at Archimedean Upper Conservatory in Miami.
 
Other top honors included Figueroa winning the varsity U.S. geography exam; Parker Jelke finishing first in the junior varsity U.S. history exam; Aronow earning first in the junior varsity U.S. geography exam; Corbin Cheah winning first in the junior varsity political science exam; and Blanco finishing first on the varsity national political science exam.
