Raiders advance to district final in thrilling fashion

Senior goalkeeper Juju Perez Rivera '24 came up with her best performance of the season when her team needed it the most, stopping three of four penalty kicks in sudden death in a 2-1 victory over Westminster Christian. With the Raiders down 1-0 on an early goal, sophomore Avery Alamazan '26 found fellow sophomore Stella Colombo '26 late in the first half on a terrific cross into the box to even the score. Despite the Raiders dominating time of possession and shots on goal which included two off the post, the team could not find the back of the net in the second half or overtime setting up a best of five penalty kick for a spot in the district championship. Sophomore Olivia Geller '26, senior Sofia Rua '24, and sophomore Stella Colombo converted their attempts and goalkeeper Juju Perez made three big saves to send the Raiders through to the final. The team will get back to the practice field today as they gear up for the district championship match this Thursday vs Carrollton. Kick off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at LaSalle High School.
